This painting is the manifest of my art and in is not a case that I have titled this website "Drops of Light", (www.marcobusoni.net)
The painting contains and summarizes the main aspects of my art: realism and fantasy, light, water, female beauty. Sensuality and fairy tale coexist in this image which can represent self-discovery, awareness and enlightenment or just curiosity or many other metaphors.

I started working on the painting in 2017 and continued to modify the image until 2024, trying to visualize on the canvas a set of concepts that inspired me, a slow and constantly evolving process that pours shapes and colors on the canvas that then feed my imagination.

In these years I thought several times the painting was finished but after some time I had to resume the work guided by the voice of the siren herself until this year finally all the pieces fit together

the final inspiration has come from the muse @casandra.deliia, you may recognize her face and smile in the painting

The death of Jesus is the theme of this days when Christians celebrate his sacrifice and resurrection.
Holy art has been the main stream in the past centuries and is mostly disregarded today, but I think that return to this theme that were faced by the great masters of the past is an interesting challenge.

This is my version of the crucifixion, painted some yeas ago "via crucis" that is exposed publicly in the church of Linas in France.
Paint this scene and being there with my imagination has been hard !

I realized that this painting is that perfect representation of "Lilith" the first woman that according to the myth was generated before Eve, but was a rebel and not submissive to Adam and therefore excluded from the classic genesis legend

I painted the "Mermaid in the moonlight" in 2006, the reference has been the advertising image for a summer dress in a magazine and the rest came out of my imagination.

Since then I have made many mermaid paintings but this one, that was my second mermaid, remains in the hearts of several ladies who consider it an unsurpassed masterpiece in my production.

On one hand I'm happy that this speaks to the heart of many people inspiring romantic dreams, on the other though I'm annoyed by the idea that my later works weren't able to evoke the same emotions.

I'm thinking now that in my next works I should return to romantic mood, stay tuned !
