The death of Jesus is the theme of this days when

The death of Jesus is the theme of this days when Christians celebrate his sacrifice and resurrection.
Holy art has been the main stream in the past centuries and is mostly disregarded today, but I think that return to this theme that were faced by the great masters of the past is an interesting challenge.

This is my version of the crucifixion, painted some yeas ago "via crucis" that is exposed publicly in the church of Linas in France.
Paint this scene and being there with my imagination has been hard !

I realized that this painting is that perfect representation of "Lilith" the first woman that according to the myth was generated before Eve, but was a rebel and not submissive to Adam and therefore excluded from the classic genesis legend

I painted the "Mermaid in the moonlight" in 2006, the reference has been the advertising image for a summer dress in a magazine and the rest came out of my imagination.

Since then I have made many mermaid paintings but this one, that was my second mermaid, remains in the hearts of several ladies who consider it an unsurpassed masterpiece in my production.

On one hand I'm happy that this speaks to the heart of many people inspiring romantic dreams, on the other though I'm annoyed by the idea that my later works weren't able to evoke the same emotions.

I'm thinking now that in my next works I should return to romantic mood, stay tuned !

"Clay masks" is a painting that I made in 2005 is based on a photo of Sebastião Salgado and wants to be a tribute to his work .
His photo is black and white and invented the colors from my imagination inspired by the light and the scary atmosphere of his photo.

Today I visited his exhibition 'Amazzonia' and have been inspired once again by the wonderful photos of Salgado, the aerial views of Amazzonia jungle with the clouds touching the earth reminds me my painting "earth and sky" and invites me to work out the theme combing my fantasy and his precious documentation of the beauty of nature.
